The UAE Tourist Visa is intended for eligible travellers visiting the United Arab Emirates for tourism, holidays, sightseeing and leisure. Travellers who are not eligible for visa-free entry or visa on arrival generally need to obtain a tourist visa before travelling. Tourist visas can be arranged through authorised airlines, hotels and licensed travel agencies, subject to the applicable requirements.
The tourist visa is available to eligible foreign nationals who meet the UAE's entry requirements. Visa requirements can vary according to nationality and the applicant's circumstances.
For a 5-year multiple-entry tourist visa, ICP lists additional financial requirements, including a bank balance of USD 4,000 or equivalent during the previous six months.
The UAE provides electronic visa and entry-permit services, allowing eligible applicants to apply through official digital immigration channels.
An approved UAE visa/entry permit can be issued electronically and delivered digitally, depending on the visa category and application channel.
E-Visa may be available for categories such as:
1. Tourist Visa
2. Visit Visa
3. Transit Visa
4. Business-related entry permits
5. Job exploration visa
6. Business establishment opportunity visa
7. Other eligible entry permits
Important: "E-Visa" is primarily the method of issuing/applying for the visa electronically, rather than one single UAE visa category. The actual visa purpose can be tourism, business, transit, family visit or another permitted purpose.
The UAE Transit Visa is designed for eligible travellers who are passing through the UAE on their way to another country and need to enter the UAE during their transit.
The UAE officially provides two transit visa durations:
Transit visas must generally be obtained and approved before entering the UAE and are sponsored by UAE-based airlines.
The transit visa is intended for eligible foreign travellers who:
1. Are travelling through the UAE to another destination
2. Have a confirmed onward journey
3. Meet the applicable UAE immigration requirements
4. Require permission to leave the airport during transit
The UAE Transit Visa is generally issued for a single transit entry and is valid for the specified transit period.
A UAE Business Visa / Business Entry Visa is intended for eligible travellers visiting the UAE for business-related purposes, including exploring investment or business opportunities.
It should be distinguished from an employment/work visa. A business visit visa does not automatically provide permission to take up employment in the UAE.
Eligible applicants can obtain a visa to explore opportunities for establishing a business in the UAE.
For example, ICP provides a 90-day single-entry visa for exploring business establishment opportunities without requiring a UAE host.
The UAE has also updated its visit-visa framework to include additional purposes such as business opportunity exploration and other specialised visit categories.
